My latest book Green Gold was published on 18th April. This week I’m looking forward to a number of promotional activities (see below).
Since publication it’s been interesting seeing the first reviews coming in from readers on Amazon and Goodreads, and elsewhere from reviewers.
“a wonderful book! . . . a really remarkable combination of research, detective work, botanical expertise and imaginative writing.”
Fiona Stafford, Professor of English at Oxford University, and author: The Long, Long Life of Trees (2017), and The Brief Life of Flowers (2018)
Regular readers will be aware that the protagonist in Green Gold, John Jeffrey, was employed by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE). Next Saturday, 27th April, I will be holding a book launch event hosted by RBGE (free tickets still available). The same day, a two-month exhibition (27 April – 30 June: read more) celebrating the life of John Jeffrey also opens at RBGE, including original watercolours from Scottish botanical artist Nicola Macartney.
While I’m in Edinburgh for the launch of the book and exhibition, I’m looking forward to taking part in a short interview with one of the city’s award-winning independent bookshops, The Edinburgh Bookshop. Hopefully, I should be able to post a link to the short online interview soon.
Finally, I’m looking forward to seeing an article in The Scotsman due for publication this week.
I hope I may see you in Edinburgh over the weekend.
