Additionally, foresters are increasingly practicing continuous cover forestry to protect forest microclimates, maintaining deep organic soil profiles to retain moisture, and exploring assisted migration—the deliberate planting of tree strains from slightly warmer, southern provenances that are genetically better adapted to the projected future conditions of the region.
